Part One: Pizza, Asian, Old School and Homely Take Away
Hands up if you love a little takeaway. We do! If you can’t find your cooking mojo today, our list of eight take away go-to’s might be just what you need…
Pizza & Italian
If you haven't tried Etcetera’s pizzas yet, you must! Eccetera has the most amazing traditional style pizza. Think rustic tomato with torn mozzarella and basil, AND THAT’S IT! So simple and so tasty. Pasta and salad options are available to take away as well.
One of the Highlands well-known pizza restaurants. If you don’t live in Robertson, it’s worth the drive. The pizza menu for in-house dining and takeaway is the same, so you won't miss out on their delicious menu. They also do a selection of their pastas, salads and desserts take away.
Firedrum in Mittagong have just opened up their delicious pizza menu for take away orders. How great it that! Just give them a buzz for orders, and then go in and pick it up. There is easy parking at the back of the restuarant, which makes it a very convenient option for dinner tonight.
If we are talking Asian food, lets talk Billy Chan. Or as we affectionately call him… Billy Chan the Dumpling Man! If you are a fan of dumplings, this is a must. There is generally a queue so allow yourself a bit of time. And TRY not to eat them all before you get home. Open Thursday - Sunday till 4pm and until 9pm on Friday's until the New Year.
Also in the hole-in-the-wall next to Billy is Ms Pho Canteen, we LURVE pho! And we love Ms Pho's cooking; delicious, fresh and so tasty. They carefully package the broth and other ingredients so it is still warm and delicious when you get home. Plus let us just mention these three words - stuffed chicken wings. Lovely, fresh rice paper rolls are also available. Open Thursday - Sunday till 5pm and until 9pm on Friday's until the New Year.
Orange in Mittagong is fresh, crispy (when crispy is required), aromatic and delicious Vietnamese! Kid-friendly favourites include the fried rice and chicken lollipops. Call ahead to order and pick up on your way home. Easy.
A Highlands institution. And with good reason. We’re talking burgers. They are proper old school, homemade, delicious mince patties. Cooked in the traditional way of squishing a ball of tasty mince on the hot plate (I don't know if that sounds as good to you as it does to us, but just you wait). They also have a really great selection of fresh seafood and do a mean fish and chips.
FWS are known for their delicious pies, but did you know tucked away in their fridge they have BIG ones. You can also grab one of their delicious salads too if you get in early. Just make sure to be organised and get in there before they close at 4pm.
Homely, Healthy and Wholesome (almost guilt free!)
Harris Farm has been working on creating some delicious take away meals in house. They use their odd picks fruit and veg and do as much as they can to waste as little as possible. They have roast, lamb, pork, chicken - what ever meat is on special that day (so you get the best price). They do extremely tasty roast veggies, including greens. Cooked that day and are in the kitchen area near the seafood. So good!
If it’s a hearty, wholesome dinner you are after Esco Pazzo is your next call. They have their pizza menu to choose from, but also provide a selection from their mains as well. Pork tender loin, veal scallopine, saltimbocca and fresh salads. Yum.
Janeks Cafe have recently joined Menulog, which means you get their delicious, healthy dishes not only take away but HOME DELIVERED! How good is that?
