Valentines Day In The Highlands

How To Float Your Love Boat In The Highlands

We love love here at The Fold and are big fans of Valentine’s Day and getting all mushy and starry-eyed with our significant other. If you’ve been hit by Cupid’s Arrow, here are some ideas on how to ramp up the romance in The Highlands this Valentine’s Day. Have a read below or check out all of the events here

Dining out
Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to put some glad rags on and book a table at one of the many fabbo restaurants we have here in The Highlands. Dine under the stars at Milton Park, work your way through four courses at Burrawang General Store or head to Kater’s Restaurant where their Valentine’s Day dinner ends with a delicious dessert tasting platter…..oooooh, could we START with that, please?? Click here for a list of local restaurants – remember, it’s a lovefest on the 14th and tables book out early, so don’t leave it too late.

Go alfresco
The best thing about Valentine’s Day in the southern hemisphere is daylight saving! It won’t get dark until after 8:00 pm, so head to your favourite lookout or picnic spot, and get down and well…not dirty because you’ll have a lovely picnic rug to sit on. Fill up the picnic basket with nibblies from Cheese Etc, a delicious drop of wine from Argyle Street Wine Merchant and some sneaky snacks from Bowral Sweets & Treats for dessert. Or outsource and order a grazing box from Highlands Grazing Co.

Non-foodie frolics
If your life doesn’t revolve around food and wine, no problem! Empire Cinema in Bowral is always a date night favourite. Or pop a pair of those sexy bowling shoes on at Highlands Tenpin Bowling. If your significant other can love you in those things, he or she is a keeper!

If live theatre is more your thing,  take in the performance of Love Letters in the Morning Room at historical Retford Park. Now that’s special….!

Clean sheets and sleep-ins
How good is it to sneak away from reality for 24 hours surrounded by the four walls of a beautiful, quiet hotel room? Wrap yourselves in fluffy bathrobes, snuggle down into fresh linen, turn the TV on and order a BLT – no interruptions and no kids! Now, that’s OUR idea of romance! Here’s a list of local hotels to sneak away to.

Brunch out
We love a delicious brunch here at The Fold. And gazing into each other’s eyes over waffles, pancakes, coffee, and poached eggs can be just as romantic as dinner by candlelight. Drop the kids at school and make a date with your significant other to catch up at a local café. Here’s a list for you to choose from.

In-house romance
Can’t get a babysitter? How does a delicious dinner delivered to your door sound? The Dinner Ladies have a huge range of yummy menu items to choose from. Or get in touch with a local caterer like Black Hen Kitchen to whip something up for you. Pair your ‘home-cooked’ dinner with a bottle of something special from Ruby’s Liquor Store and maybe end your in-house date night with a Pleasure Bar - honey peanut caramel, peanut butter ganache, raspberry, and peanut crunch - from Ms. Peacock Fine Chocolates in Bowral.

You’re not allowed to marry chocolate, are you? Just checking for a friend….

I’m certainly a different person to the one I was when we drove into the driveway from our small terrace in the inner west of Sydney with a goldfish strapped into the front seat and two little girls in the back, peer...
