TULIP TIME 2019 // Everything You Need To Know
Who else is bloomin' excited for Tulip Time ? The Bowral tulip festival is back for 2019 with a fresh new look, a fun theme (hello Mary Poppins!) and whole lot of fabulous events and ways to celebrate all things spring and tulip-y in the Southern Highlands!
And this year, there’s a Mary Poppins theme. Why? Well, the author of Mary Poppins, P L Travers actually lived in Bowral in her teens and it was here that the idea for the character of the magical nanny came about! Love it.
Corbett Gardens on Bendooley Street in Bowral is the central meeting place for Tulip Time which runs from Tuesday 24 September to Monday 7 October. 75,000 tulip bulbs were planted back in autumn in preparation for the sea of colour that appears in spring.

As for 2019, here is how you can celebrate Tulip Time.....
TULIP TIME AT CORBETT GARDENS // 24 September – 7 October
This lovely event has such a relaxed community vibe. It's such a nice way to take some time out and appreciate the gorgeousness of the tulips. Open 9:00am – 4:00pm (5:00pm on Saturdays), you can wander through the gardens, take in the live entertainment, check out the market stalls and grab something yummo to eat or drink. The kids will love the cup and saucer ride – fun! – and plaster painting. There’s loads of Instaworthy photo opps! And the best bit? Wingecarribee locals get in free – booyah!
TULIP TIME TWILIGHT PROCESSION // 24 September
Replacing the Tulip Time Parade this year is the Tulip Time Twilight Walk. Meet at the Mary Poppins statue in Glebe Park at 5:30pm and wander along with your lantern to Corbett Gardens and have fun (and maybe a spoonful of sugar!) at a Mary Poppins carnival-style evening.
SKETCH IN THE GARDENS // 25 September
What a fabulous way to get outdoors, experience spring in the Southern Highlands and capture the beauty of the tulips! Local artist Libby Wakefield will guide you through this charcoal sketching workshop where you can be inspired by all the gorgeous gardens and whip up your own special drawing.
OPEN GARDENS // 24 September – 7 October
Loads of Highlands properties with their own stunning gardens will be opening their gates up to the public, sharing their love of all things floral and fabulous! Here’s a list of Open Gardens happening during Tulip Time.
