Top 5 Items You Need In Your Wardrobe Right Now

Top 5 Trans-seasonal Highlands Wardrobe Must Haves For Effortless Style

Transition from the cold Highlands winter to our lovely and warm spring...

With a little luck, we are about to exit ‘all out’ winter dressing and enter into the trans-seasonal spring zone. Now, we all know you can experience all seasons in one day in the Highlands, right? So we need some key layering pieces to generate funky looks, while staying super comfy, on-point and stylishly fab as the day turns from warm to cool to Arctic and back to warm again.

Because we're starting to see cheeky little snippets of spring appearing (we see you cherry blossom trees!), we stopped by Zoe Georgiou’s boutique at The Mill and chatted to Zoe herself. She shared her top 5 trans-seasonal layering pieces with us so we can move from winter to spring with effortless style....

1 // Tunic

An A-line Tunic is a must have. Source one made from natural fibres like merino wool which makes it breathable and perfect for transitioning into spring. Want to wear it all year round? Add some clever layering pieces like tights, boots and a snug scarf, and you're set for a cold winter’s day. Grab one in forest green, navy or dark grey to provide the perfect base for layering. Add a gorge detailed belt in silver and you're good to go! Zoe has just re-stocked her best-selling Tunic in four delicious shades, made from 100% merino wool – off you go!

2 // Linen Blazer

Who can resist a French Linen Blazer? We can’t!! Especially this one from Zoe Georgiou. Dress this up or down by popping it on over a slip dress, or layering over thermals for a chilly day. Grab a blazer with detailing or fab stitching elements to add in a bit of va va voom… pair with block colours and a nude shoe and you're ready for cocktails.

3 // Slip Dress

An absolute must have – in fact Zoe said that every Highlands wardrobe should have at least one (or two, or three). Perfect in summer to wear alone or layer up in the cooler months with cashmere knits, coats or blazers. It's best to choose one in a classic colour  – baby blue, black or earthy tones work best for matching with existing wardrobe essentials. Oh, and make sure it's silk – it won’t stick to you and allows your skin to breathe. Timeless and classic, a slip dress is a trans-seasonal must.

4 // Long Dress

Stylish, classic and oh so versatile. Wear it as a dress, add a knit and make it look like a skirt or unbutton it completely and use it as a duster over statement pants. The best bit? A dress like this will take you right through four seasons with a few simple tweaks and some additional layers in cooler months. This piece adds flexibility and longevity to your wardrobe. We've all gotta get this in our wardbrobe for spring.

5 // Statement Pant

Being able to mix and match items is how you get a high functioning, trans-seasonal wardrobe. Having a statement pant that is a little spesh is an easy way to dress a look up or down, and take you from work to play in a few easy steps. These divine silk pants in a copper colour, currently stocked at Zoe's boutique are crazy gorgeous and we're in love! Pair them with a flat mule and an aqua knit for a casual ‘dropping the kids at school’ look, or dress them up with a sheer top and copper accessories and you are date night ready. These pants are made from silk and will float beautifully, creating a fab silhouette.

How good is that? All we need is a few layers, a few statement pieces and the ability to wear items in multiple ways for the perfect Highlands trans-seasonal wardrobe! If you simply can’t live without these base pieces – pop into The Mill and see Zoe – she has a wealth of knowledge, and is oh so amazing when it comes to body shapes, sizes and skin tones and will having you looking fab in no time. No appointment is necessary – watchoo waiting for?
