And well, we don't want to mention the C-word but it's just around the corner and there is already some gorgeous 'you know what' themed events popping up too.
Start your November with our pick of awesome things to do in the Highlands this month....
FARM LIFE // Maugers Paddock to Plate Tour 23 NOV
Find out what its like making a living from the land at this awesome tour run by John and Vicki Mauger. John is a second generation farmer and his stories of life growing up on 600 acres in Robertson are both poignant and hilarious at times. You’re welcomed with some delish country fare (apple teacake - yay!) before hearing about the history of the farm and also well known local biz Maugers Meats. Head out to the paddocks to get up close and personal with some of the farm’s other inhabitants followed by a lesson in boning, before finishing up with fresh rolls filled with 18 hour slow cooked beef. So important to hear real stories from real people on the land, right?
FOLLOW THIS // Southern Highlands Art Studio Trail 2, 3, 9, 10 NOV
Heads up art lovers! Artists and creatives across the Highlands will open their studio doors and special creative habitats to the public for the Southern Highlands Art Studio Trail. Studios will be open across the next two weekends.
ZEN OUT // Yoga in the Vines 10 & 14 NOV
Get your zen on (with some wine on the side) at Cuttaway Hill Wines in Exeter. Focus on aligning mind, body and spirit at Yoga in the Vines with Annie from Southern Highlands Yoga followed by (and we likey this bit!) a wine tasting! Lovin’ it! More details here.
DO-SI-DO AT THIS // Burrawang Barn Dance 23 NOV
We love a good old fashioned bush dance! The Paddy’s River Band will get the party jumpin ‘ and boot scootin’. There is also an experienced dance-caller so everyone can get up and have a go. Channel your inner Billy Ray and hop to it!
PACK THE PICNIC BASKET FOR THIS // Coburns Spring Picnic 16 NOV
This is a fab event right up our alley, people! Coburns Distillery in Burrawang is inviting everyone to come along to their annual Spring Picnic on November 16, a family-friendly event with so many fun things to do (and eat!).
Think picnics, slow cooked deliciousness, distillery tours, fun and frivolous live entertainment, aerial shows and the chance for the kids to learn some circus skills of their own! THAT will keep them busy while you relax on the grass! Sounds awesome, doesn’t it??
TASTE THIS // Mystery Winemakers Dinner 8 NOV
Five courses of deliciousness expertly matched with five mystery Australian wines at Mittagong RSL’s next Winemakers Dinner. Talk about, learn about and hear about some fab wines. And of course, taste and enjoy the wine too!
WATCH THIS // Dead Men Talking 9 NOV
Imagine listening in on a conversation between iconic poets Henry Lawson and Banjo Paterson! Dead Men Talking is a lively and entertaining stage show bringing these literary legends to life as they ‘catch up for a drink and a chat’ – such an original concept, we love it! Held in the gorgeous surrounds of Hopewood House, these tix will move quickly so don’t delay, people.
OOH & AAH AT THIS // Retford Park Rehung 9 – 24 NOV
A spectacular event celebrating the generosity of James Fairfax, and the thriving local art scene is coming to Retford Park in November and it is soooo not to be missed. Retford Park Rehung – The Art of Collecting will give locals the opportunity to view artworks by Brett Whitely, Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd and loads more iconic artists. Amazing, right? There will be day tours, special dinners and sunset tours and awesome local collab Artists Of The Round Yard Inc will be sharing their latest spectacular creations. So cool!
GET YOUR CREATIVE JUICE FLOWING // At the SHAC
There’s always something fab happening at the SHAC and November is busy busy busy! The SHAC’s very first Hand Made Market Day is on Saturday November 2. Local makers selling fab creations, artisan demonstrations, and the Moonacres team will be doing pasta making demos – yum!
We LOVE this concept – resident SHAC artist Ric Abel will be creating a stunning (and huge) performance artwork while you watch! While you're there, you can also check out Brooke Munro and Maria Gorton's gorgeous "Orphic" exhibition. It's really mysterious and entrancing stuff, definitely worth a look!
There’s always plenty of workshops happening – this month you can make drum lampshades, learn how to paint macro florals, do some life drawing and plenty more. Click here for November events at the SHAC!
MAKE THIS // Christmas Baking at the Cook’s Cooking School 30 NOV
Learn how to make gingerbread men and Christmas trees at this kid-friendly cooking class. Perfect for gifting to people or keeping to yourself! Mumma’s Country Kitchen is also running two Chrissy focused cooking classes on 15 and 16 November. You HAVE to check out the list of things you’ll be making – sounds heavenly!
CHILL OUT // Vinyl Nights at Artemis 2 NOV
Woohoo! Vinyl Nights on the lawn at Artemis is back! Bring your own vinyl or just kick back and listen to some bangin’ tunes on classic speakers from the 70’s. Love it. Chow down on cheeseboards, pizzas, apple pies – double woohoo! – and of course, the awesome wines Artemis are so well known for. Such a great way to chill out on a Saturday night in the Highlands.
SUPPORT THIS // Our Gallery Community Day 17 NOV
This one looks like so much fun! On November 17 supporters of the Southern Highlands Regional Gallery are hosting a fab day out at Retford Park. Ben Quilty will be chatting about plans for the new gallery, there will be loads of live entertainment, food trucks, ice cream (yay!) and adult refreshments (double yay!), awesome workshops and you can help the super talented Natalie Miller create a large scale interactive wool weaving. Tickets are limited so don’t dilly dally!

LISTEN TO THIS // Adam Harvey at Robbo Bowling Club 9 NOV
Robertson Bowling Club is celebrating their 70th anniversary with a fabulous dinner and show! Country star Adam Harvey will be performing along with the super talented locals from Wingecarribee Vocal Muster and awesome band, Velvet Grove. Happy 70th Robbo Bowlo!
FASCINATORS, FETLOCKS & FASHION // Bong Bong Picnic Races 22 NOV
It’s back! The race the stops the Highlands is on this month. Tickets are super tight at the moment – it always sells out quickly – so give the Race Office Club a call on 4862 2155 to get yourself one or go on the waitlist.
