Guide To Mother's Day
Inspo for how you can say thanks to Mum…
Thanks to a very weird, very unpredictable start to 2020, we’re thinking your Mum might need a bit of extra love for Mother’s Day 2020! So we’ve put together a list of gift inspo that you can get locally – supporting our awesome Highlands businesses and saying thanks to Mum at the same time – awesome!
You can purchase most of these online and organise to pick them up with no contact or have the gift delivered to yours or your Mum’s door, depending on your current iso sitch. Just touch base with each of these businesses and they’ll let you know how they’re operating.
Soooooo……here’s to the mums wrangling learning at home and work, the essential worker mums, mums on the healthcare frontline, our older mums who might be doing it tough by themselves or with our dads (!) in iso, the single mums who keep on keeping on cos’ that’s how they do it and all the amazing women who step in and are part of our parenting village!
HOME STYLIN’ MUM
Seeing most of us are bunkered down at home at the moment, you may as well make it extra spesh for Mum!
1 // Cristina Re Bone China Mugs from Heavenly Scents & Gifts
2 // Willow Tree Always Figurine from Pretty Little Present
3 // Roy Cocoon Chair from Cotswold InOut Furniture
She loves good quality produce, whipping something fabulous up herself in the kitchen and eating out (once all this is over)! But she also loves it when other people create or cook something up for her. Give Mum the whole day off with these local and seriously delicious options.
4 // Basket of baked treats from South Hill Kitchen – they had us at Portuguese Tarts!
5 // Cheese Selection Bag from The Whey Cafe at the Robertson Cheese Factory
6 // Delicious (and oh so pretty) macarons whipped up by The Batty Baker
7 // Feed the Family Pre-Prepared Meal from birch restaurant
8 // Gift pack of 3 x Kielty’s Irish Sauces (you get to select which three!)
9 // Choose from the huge selection of teas online at Mrs Oldbucks Pantry
FASHION FORWARD MUM
Treat Mum to something fabulous or sparkly!
12 // Cotton Roll Neck Jumper designed and made by Zoe Georgiou Designs
13 // Winter coat from Quintessential Exeter
14 // Stunning Pink Amethyst Drop Earrings from Highlands Jewellery – fab special price for Mother’s Day!
15 // And this Ted Baker Jewellery Box from Bowerbird on Argyle can store all Mum’s new bling.
GREEN THUMB MUM
16 // The garden is THE place to be right now! Gubbins Pulbrook Mitre 10 at Moss Vale has a huge range of indoor and outdoor plants in their garden centre, and we are lovin’ their range of pots and indoor décor. Maybe chuck in some fisiocream or Deep Heat too – Mum might be pulling up a bit stiff after spending hours in the garden (speaking from experience!).
17 // Black Parrot Art & Framing has a range of art materials to choose from if Mum is keen to work on some creative projects. Everything from watercolour paints and stretched canvases, to charcoals, pastels inks and Japanese Papers…….she’ll love having the time and the tools to tap back into her creative side.
If Mum loves her sport or likes getting active, try these:
18 // Update her cycling wardrobe and accessories at The Fixed Wheel
19 // A gift voucher for an awesome Canoes, Champagne & Canapes adventure at this year's WILDfest in October. Get a sneak peek here of what it’s all about from when we did it!
A delicious wine with dinner, a brewski at the family barbecue or bubbles at sunset once the day is done….most Mums don’t mind a tipple or two here and there.....speaking from experience *clears throat, whistles and looks at the ceiling.
20 // Cuttaway Hill Wines Survival 6 Pack (with a roll of loo paper!)
21 // Boysenberry Liqueur from Joadja Estate – the BEST on ice cream!
22 // Pre-made takeaway cocktails from Wine Mosaic Lounge in Moss Vale
PAMPER AND SELF CARE TIME
Every Mum loves a little bit (okay, a LOT) of pampering, but many simply don’t get the chance or time to prioritise their own self-care. You can change that!
26 // Sculptress gift voucher for a delicious facial or massage
27 // Order gorgeous Bare Body Beauty products via The Mill’s fabulous online store
28 // Gift voucher for a makeup tutorial with Garth at Siva Beauty in Mittagong for when we can all hang out together again
Southern Highlands hair and beauty salons – just touch base with them first as many have their hours and services restricted at the moment.
Whose Mum loves curling up on the sofa (uninterrupted!) with a cuppa and a good book to escape into? Our hands are up! Hint hint….
29 // The Persistence of Yellow, a gorgeous book at Pretty Little Present
30 // Red Earth Black Bones written by Hill Top author Lee Richie
31 // This guide to hotels, inns and hideaways so she can start planning her post-iso holiday, from Bowerbird on Argyle
Southern Highlands bookstores – it’s a good idea to touch base with your local bookstore to see what restrictions they have in place at the moment.
How often is Mum the one behind the camera and never in front of it? A lot, right? Why don’t you organise a gift voucher for a family photo shoot with Golden Thread Photography? Capture Mum surrounded by her favs!
SAY IT WITH FLOWERS
Cos flowers are the best! They brighten up a room and they’ll put a smile on Mum’s face for sure!

So, there you go! Plenty of ideas to get you started!
Remember Mother’s Day is Sunday 10 May and seeing many of these options can be bought online and delivered, make sure you leave plenty of time for the businesses and the posties to do their thang and get the gift delivered on time.
Thanks Mums – you rock!!!
