JULY MUST DO’S
WHAT’S ON IN THE SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS IN JULY
July is always a busy one in The Highlands. With the school holidays sneaking up on us, Christmas in July events and lots more….there’s no chance of us Highlanders staying indoors! And who would want to when we’ve got over 200 events in our Event Directory!? Can you believe it?? So we've trawled through all the events – oohing and aahing! - and whipped up our monthly list of Must Do’s. Have a read!
RUG UP FOR THIS // Bundanoon Winterfest
This is such an awesome community event. While the highlight is the Opening Night Street Party – yep! The main road of Bundanoon is closed for a family friendly street party – there is also a fantastic week-long program packed with all sorts of events and workshops for all ages. Everything from cooking classes to how to make cheese, slime workshops for kids, live performances and heaps more – there is plenty to keep Highlanders super busy in the second week of the school holidays. And who loves a good bonfire? We do! Bundanoon Rebels Soccer Club will be hosting a Farewell to Winterfest bonfire party at Ferndale Reserve on the last night. Fun!

DRINK THIS // Champagne Masterclass At Ashton Park
One of our favourite sounds is that delicious pop you hear when opening a bottle of champagne. So when we heard about this Champagne Masterclass at Ashton Park on Saturday 6 July, let’s say our ears well and truly pricked up. Spend the afternoon relaxing around the brazier in the beautiful Ashton Park Barn, tasting exceptional champagne from an independent Champagne Maison (that means champagne house, people - ooh la la!) from Avize in France – the real deal! Champagne expert Constant Beguin Billecocq will step you through the art of champagne making, share the story of Maison Frerejean Freres and guide you through the VERY important part…..tasting the delicious champagne! What a way to while away a Saturday afternoon….
GET ZEN // Yoga, Meditation and Mindfulness
It can be hard to make time for time out in this busy world of ours, but we are big fans of getting our zen on and are so happy to see so many yoga, meditation and mindfulness retreats, workshops and classes happening this month. Have a look at the Mums and Bubs Yoga, a Return To Nature Weekend Retreat, Mindful Me School Holiday Camps and plenty more, there’s no time like the present to get…..well…..present!
MAKE THIS // Make Mine Macrame Workshop
Macrame is one of the hottest trends in interior design right now, so how cool would it be to make your own boho inspired macramé wall hanging? The Make Mine Macrame Workshop with Melissa Sharp of Boho Zen is happening on Monday 8 July. Now if you’re a macramé wizard, this one might not be for you. This workshop has been created for beginners. Might be something fun to do with your teenager (if you’re trying to keep one busy in the school hols!). Mel’s workshops fill up pretty quickly so don’t leave it too long to book. We are lovin’ the return of this retro trend!
TASTE THIS // Birch Winter Dinner Series
Dates for the Birch Winter Dinner Series have been announced and we are getting our stretchy pants ready! This foodie fave in Moss Vale has been hitting gourmet goals since it opened, so we’re a little excited about the three Friday night dinners coming up. If craft beer and share plates are up your alley, the Beer Dinner on July 12 is the one for you. If it’s wine that floats your tastebuds boat, then book in for the Wine Dinner on July 19. And cider gets a look in too with ciders and mead being paired with a hearty three course menu on July 26 at the Cider Dinner. Like we said, stretchy pants…..

This year’s guests include comedian Mikey Robins and Flour & Stone’s Nadine Ingram , plus more fabulously talented writers.
