Hatted Restaurants In The Highlands

The Southern Highlands has always been a hot spot for incredible produce and amazing eateries, however, according to the recently released 2019 installment of the Australian Good Food Guide, The Highlands is now home to five hatted restaurants! This has well and truly cemented the region as a big hitter in the culinary game.

Let's take a closer look at these incredible establishments and the amazing locals who are blazing bright on the national culinary scene.

Just over a year old, Birch is a newcomer to the restaurant scene, elegantly at home within the walls of the old post office on the main street of Moss Vale. It oozes class with its beautifully curated moody visual interior, which is just as delicious as their creative flavour combinations and plating techniques. Both the restaurant and the food is a feast for the eyes (and tummy!).

Eschalot is housed in a stunning heritage listed building in the historic Berrima village. Owners Matthew Roberts and Cassandra Wallace focus on food innovation, professional, friendly service, and sourcing high quality produce. Eschalot delivers consistently beautiful cuisine with an elegant but relaxed sense of occasion.

Horderns Fine Dining Room is a stunning a la carte restaurant at Milton Park Country House and Spa. The decor is luxurious, the food French-inspired and the wine (from the award-winning cellar!) simply delicious. An elegant and classic dining experience for lovers of European style and stunning Australian produce.

Tucked away in the rolling green hills of Sutton Forest, Katers is in the grounds of Peppers Manor House. Head chef Thomas Pirker has a fresh new approach to Australian cuisine and takes advantage of the surrounding world-class produce The Highlands offers up. Dine indoors in an elegant setting with pendant ceiling lights and luxurious décor and enjoy the views of the country setting.
