GOOD VIBES // Creative Space Southern Highlands Launch Creativity Packs

An awesome local initiative keeping people connected through creativity.

Hey guys, have you heard of Creative Space Southern Highlands? Based in the Kazcare precinct on Kirkham Street in Bowral, Creative Space Southern Highlands is an inclusive community art space where anyone can come and learn new skills, share their own experience and knowledge, or just spend time connecting with others while they tap into their creativity.

It’s been running since 2017, with the support of donations, volunteers and grants, supported and managed by Vinnie's!

The focus is on diversity, inclusivity and creating opportunities for people of all walks of life to connect through a love of art.

But it’s been a bit difficult recently for the guys to run their workshops and classes because of that pesky global pandemic we’re all working our way through.

So, Creative Space Southern Highlands has come up with a new way to connect and keep people tapping into their creativity. Something that is super-beneficial for our emotional and mental wellbeing in a world of uncertainty, right?

They’ve put together a load of Creative Packs, filled to the brim with art materials and resources to keep people busy, focused and celebrating the artist within. Anything from drawing paper to art supplies to wool and beads can be included in the packs. Simply call the team to chat through what you would like in your own Creative Pack. Then they can organise contactless delivery, postage or you can pick it up.

Or register for an online Afternoon Chill Session, which runs twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays). This session focuses on creative activities that encourage mindfulness – things like mandala drawing, colouring, painting, sketching and more (you can even make your own mandala dream catcher – gorgeous!).

You simply order your Creative Space Activity Pack specifically for the Zoom sessions, register via email, Facie or phone, and then login on Zoom to connect with the co-ordinator for the session and other like-minded peeps wanting to connect while getting creative.

Such a great idea. We love it!

And we are also lovin’ that Creative Space Southern Highlands has just been awarded a $7k grant thanks to the Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Community Assistance Grant Program. They’re going to use that for their workshops program when they can run it again.

If you’d love to give a Creativity Pack a go or register for their online chill sessions, their Facebook page has loads of information and you can DM them through there. Or give Tania at Creative Space Southern Highlands a call on 0417847 492 or email her [email protected]

And these guys are always happy for volunteers to get involved and are super-grateful when they receive donations of art supplies. If you can help out, get in touch with Tania.

Such a great, local initiative - let's give it some love!
