Awesome (and FREE) Workshops for Young Highlands Performers and Muso’s
Opportunity for Highlands youth to hit the stage and learn
Hey, how cool is this? If you’re a young performer or muso and you’re keen to upskill in the area of performing, song writing, stage presence and more, have a look at this program.
As part of the Cairn Mossy Rock youth opportunities program, Wingecarribee Shire Council is offering a series of free workshops for young people aged 12 to 24, starting with six 90-minute workshops focusing on building skills in the entertainment industry.
To be held at The Venue in Bowral during the July school holidays, the workshops will focus on performance, stage presence, understanding your brand as a performer or band, and song writing. Sounds good, right?
Council’s Youth Liaison Officer Michelle Williams said the workshops were designed to upskill young people and provide them with greater opportunities for employment, particularly in the entertainment industry.
“Here in the Southern Highlands we’re lucky to have a diverse range of talented young performers,” she said.
“These workshops have been designed to encourage leadership and help performers grow in confidence.”
There is one stipulation though! You must turn up to all six workshops if you sign up. You can’t just roll up to one or two here or there, cos’ that’s not fair on others, right?
Soooo, if you’re in a band or love having a sing-song or you’ve got your eyes on a career in the entertainment industry, sign up before July 1. More info here!
Oh, and there are some other free workshops coming up focusing on other industries – first aid, construction and hospitality – you can check them all out here.
