COVID-19 UPDATE - April 2020
Southern Highlands Veterinary Centre have been classed as an essential service though are trying to postpone anything that is non urgent. Policies have been established to reduce risk of COVID-19 infection between members of the community to keep us safe. These policies will continue to change as the situation changes.
If your pet needs veterinary attention and you are at risk of having COVID-19 as:
You have been overseas in the past 14 days,
You have had exposure to someone who is COVID-19 positive,
You’re experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 such as a fever, sore throat or cough, or
Your workplace places you at a high risk of exposure eg hospital, medical centre,
please phone them for advice to make alternative arrangements. Ideally, a family or friend who is not at risk of COVID-19 should bring your pet in to the clinic. It is very important for you to advise them if you are in this category.
Please wait in your car.
Please phone them from your car on arrival so they can let you know when they are ready for the consultation.
Please ensure that only one person enters the consult room with the vets.
If you don’t feel comfortable visiting the clinic you can drop your pet off for the day or phone them from the car park and a staff member can bring your pet into the clinic for examination/treatment.
Consultations can be preformed outside.
In line with social distancing guidelines, please maintain a distance of more than 1.5 metres from other people including reception staff.
They would prefer if all payments are made via "contactless" methods instead of cash.
Until the situation changes, the following procedures have been stopped:
Cat and dog boarding.
Cat and dog grooming.
Indoor visitation of hospital patients. If possible, clients can visit their pets outside on the lawn areas.
Things to remember
Please use hand sanitisers or hand washing stations located in the clinic.
Please phone ahead to order required prescription medicine repeats or food, worming and flea control in advance so they can be ready for when you arrive.
Staff are working hard to ensure they can continue to provide complete veterinary care.
This situation is rapidly evolving, and staff will provide updates as required.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. The team at Southern Highlands Veterinary Centre hope you stay safe and well and if you have any questions please call them on 02 4868 1310.
