Nest Counselling and Psychotherapy
Who comes to therapy and why?
Everyone is welcome at Nest Psychotherapy and Counselling. There are many reasons that you may have ended up reading this page and whatever those reasons are, I am here and welcome a conversation with you.
Whilst I have specialist areas of interest, I believe that there is nothing more important in the therapeutic process than the trust and relationship between the therapist and the individual seeking therapy.
I believe wholeheartedly that you have the answers that you seek to your questions. You.hold the power and that begins with your decision to seek therapy and who that is with.
That is often down to who you feel 'fits' you. After reading through the website, if you have a feeling that I may 'fit', then reach out and we can talk.
Meet the Team
Originally from Liverpool in the UK, my early career commenced in the field of social housing. In this environment, my work was grounded in supporting individuals with complex and unique needs. It was during this time that I realised my passion for working with people, particularly those who found themselves marginalized, vulnerable or unheard.
In 2016, I completed my Post Graduate study in Holistic Psychotherapy and Counselling with a major focus on Process Oriented Psychology. I also work with other modalities of therapy and I will be guided very much by what emerges from the work I do with an individual based on their unique experience.
I seek to build a compassionate, respectful therapeutic relationship with you, so that we can work together to explore your experiences, discover meaning in the struggle and find what you require, bringing about sustainable change, growth or acceptance.
I am a registered member of PACFA and duly comply to the ethical regulation of my profession. I receive regular supervision and undertake professional development training. I also hold professional indemnity insurance.
I am an experienced, PACFA registered psychotherapist. I have experience as both a teacher and a practitioner of Process Oriented Psychology. More recently in my career I am able to facilitate ongoing professional development of other local therapists. I use an holistic approach to counselling and have an interest in supporting adults to manage relationship difficulties, anxiety and panic.
I have a keen interest in working with conflict and am experienced in working with with couples as well as individuals. My approach is deeply respectful and empowering with a belief in the inherent wisdom within each individual. In working with life’s disturbances I believe we can grow more fully into our true selves.
I grew up in the Southern Highlands before moving to Sydney for 9 years. I now find myself back in my home town, drawn to the community feel. Originally studying education, I moved into managing a child care service. I found my niche in a management role and went on to complete a Certificate 4 in Small Business Management.
I moved into managing a practitioner’s office in the mental health sector. This role equipped me with industry relevant skills and a compassion for the challenges faced in personal life. As practice manager it is my intention to implement workplace practice and procedure to ensure clients get the most out of their appointments. I aim to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and respected, while maintaining a high level of privacy.
