Retford Park House and Garden Tours
The history of Retford Park extends back to grants of land promised by Governor Macquarie in 1821. The house was built in 1887 by Samuel Horden and designed by Albert Bond; its grand rendered Italianate style set on a low rise overlooking the rolling hills of East Bowral. Purchased by James Fairfax in 1964, the property was turned from agricultural to gentelman's residence. The house has become a treasure trove of pieces James Fairfax has collected over the years, and both the house and the garden is a delight to wonder through. A surprise at every corner. To see this beautiful estate, bookings are essential as there is a maximum of 20 people per tour.
