Berrima Schoolyard Markets
If you're looking for things to do in Berrima, the Berrima Schoolyard Markets is a busy, fun market with a buzzy vibe. Held on the fourth Sunday of every month in the grounds of the picturesque and historical Berrima Public School, there is lots to keep all ages occupied (and fed!). SHOPPING There is a huge range of high quality stalls to check out offering bespoke crafts, local artisans selling stunning handmade items, vintage inspired fashion, books, delicious local produce, gorgeous gifts and of course, appetites are well and truly covered with a yummy selection of fabulous food – choose from Japanese pancakes, gozleme, Chinese, Danish and French cuisine and plenty more. ENTERTAINMENT There is also live music, children’s art classes and plenty of activities such as a jumping castle, motorised kids’ cars and face painting to keep the children entertained while you shop, grab a well-deserved coffee, kick back and listen to live music. ALL FOR A GREAT CAUSE Something else pretty special about these markets is that all money raised from stall fees are invested back into the school’s Stephanie Alexander Kitchen and Garden Program. The awesome school-run Kitchen Café operates on market day serving up coffee and delicious home baked goodies and treats. The café also sells produce the students have grown in the school garden or items they’ve made at their weekly cooking classes, such as relish and jams. A great cause, kids entertainment, live music, delicious food options, a large range of stalls, produce and goodies on offer – what a great way to spend a Sunday! Berrima Schoolyard Markets is open from 09:00am – 2:00pm on the fourth Sunday of every month. Pop it in the diary! And don't forget they hold a Christmas market on the second Sunday of December. Closed in January for some well-earned rest! MAKE A DAY OF IT When you've finished wandering around the markets, be sure to take in the gorgeous village of Berrima. Beautifully preserved, the historical town of Berrima is definitely easy on the eye. Stone buildings housing a range of beautiful stores selling everything from handmade sauces and chutneys, locally made jewellery, homewares, baked goods, patisserie deliciousness and traditional lollies – yum! Berrima is also home to plenty of cafes, awesome restaurants, a great country pub and of one of the Highlands' most-loved parks for the kids.
